Tróia, Portugal – September 2026 – Xer Technologies AG has successfully concluded its participation at REPMUS 2026, the world’s largest international exercise dedicated to maritime robotics and unmanned systems. Throughout the exercise, Xer Technologies deployed its X8 PRO long-endurance hybrid-electric unmanned aircraft system (UAS) alongside multiple armed forces, demonstrating its capabilities across realistic maritime operational scenarios.

Xer Technologies personnel worked side-by-side with military operators for approximately one month, conducting missions alongside participants from multiple nations while operating under both Swiss and Swedish flags. The X8 PRO was integrated into the wider STANAG 4817 exercise command-and-control structure, enabling the aircraft’s position and mission data to be shared across the multinational operational environment at all times.

REPMUS 2026 brought together participants from 36 nations, including 26 actively participating countries and ten observer nations, alongside NATO organizations, industry, and research institutions. During the exercise, Xer Technologies actively engaged with representatives from ten nations.

During REPMUS 2026, Xer Technologies participated in two principal operational mission profiles. The first, a simulated maritime counter-drone mission, Xer Technologies operated the X8 PRO equipped with a radar payload. During the mission, the X8 PRO detected and tracked unmanned surface drones, providing real-time data that was integrated into the wider command-and-control structure to support counter-UAS operations. By positioning the radar sensor in the air, the system can significantly extend the surveillance horizon and provide greater coverage than comparable ground or vessel-based sensors.

In a second mission, the X8 PRO was deployed for subsurface mine detection using UMag Solutions’ FastMag® high-speed magnetic sensing system. The combination of the long-endurance aerial platform and UMag Solutions’ magnetic sensing technology enabled efficient magnetic anomaly detection while reducing the need to expose personnel or vessels to potentially hazardous areas. Mines detected during the missions were subsequently located and removed using unmanned underwater vehicles, demonstrating how airborne and subsea unmanned systems can work together as part of an integrated mine-countermeasures operation.

For Xer Technologies, these missions provided valuable insights into operational requirements while enabling prospective customers to evaluate the X8 PRO and its payloads within their own mission environments.

Discussions with defense personnel during REPMUS focused on specific operational use cases and mission profiles, including counter-UAS, maritime ISR, mine countermeasures, and subsea threat detection. Xer Technologies expects these discussions to continue over the coming weeks and months as prospective end-users further define their operational requirements and explore potential procurement pathways.

The exercise also provided an opportunity to offer information about Xer Technologies’ upcoming X12 long-endurance hybrid-electric UAS to prospective military end-users. Discussions focused on its combination of long endurance, increased payload capacity, vertical take-off and landing capabilities, and comparatively compact operational and logistical footprint. The characteristics are particularly relevant for naval operations and ship-based deployment.

Xer Technologies CEO Statement
“REPMUS demonstrates why working directly with armed forces is such an important part of our strategy,” said Erik Herlyn, CEO of Xer Technologies AG. “For approximately one month, our team worked side-by-side with military operators from multiple nations in realistic operational scenarios. This gave our company the opportunity not only to demonstrate the capabilities of our system, but also to gain a deeper understanding of operational requirements, develop solutions together with end-users, and build the trust and relationships that are essential for future procurements.”

The X8 PRO is Xer Technologies’ long-endurance hybrid-electric multicopter UAS. Designed and developed in Switzerland and produced in Sweden and Switzerland, the aircraft combines the maneuverability, hovering capability and rapid deployment advantages of a multicopter with substantially greater endurance than conventional battery-powered systems. The platform can carry payloads of up to 10 kg, and Xer Technologies has integrated more than 30 different payloads for applications including ISR, SIGINT, maritime surveillance, mine and unexploded ordnance detection and other specialized missions.
