Xer Technologies’ X8 PRO Added to Transport Canada’s List of Eligible Drones for Medium Category BVLOS Operations in Canada
Dietikon, Switzerland – 15th October 2026
Xer Technologies AG announces that its Swiss-developed X8 PRO hybrid-electric Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) has been added to Transport Canada’s list of eligible drones for Medium Category Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations at distances of at least 1 km from populated areas, subject to applicable operational requirements.
This development marks an important milestone for Xer Technologies in the Canadian market, opening new opportunities for the deployment of the X8 PRO in long-range pipeline inspection missions, including operations conducted by the company’s existing customers.
With flight endurance of up to 3.5 hours and a payload capacity of up to 10 kg, the X8 PRO is particularly well suited to inspecting extensive pipeline networks and other critical infrastructure. Its hybrid-electric propulsion system enables longer missions than conventional battery-powered multicopters, reducing the frequency of landings and improving operational efficiency.
